Where To Buy Good Wigs Online

How to Shop for a Wig

So you’ve made the decision to buy a wig! Congratulations – welcome to the fun side! Whatever your reason, whether it be a medical reason, hair loss or purely cosmetic, a wig is an easy way to boost your confidence.

You may be tempted to start browsing and pick the first wig that catches your eye. At WigOutlet.com, a ton of wigs will catch your eye, though – especially at these discounted prices! Before you start shopping, you will want to narrow down your selection. There’s a huge wig world out there and you need to know how to pick the right one.

How To Find The Right Wig

First and foremost, you need to figure out your wig size. You wouldn’t purchase a pair of jeans without knowing your size, right? Wigs come in three sizes: petite, average, and large. 90 - 95% of customers wear an average size wig. But don’t fret! Petite and large size wigs are just as beautiful.

Good news - finding your size is so easy! You only need a tape measure. Wrap the tape measure around the circumference of your head. It will be difficult to read the measurement, so check it out in a mirror or ask someone for help. Take note of the number and compare below.

Petite = 21”

Average =22”

Large = 23”

As you can see, there is very little difference between the sizes. Still, that extra inch can mean the difference between a comfortable fit and a major headache. Now that you’re armed with your size, you can dive in!

Next, consider if you’d prefer a human hair or synthetic hair wig. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. It all depends on what fits your life. Synthetic is a great option if you are short on time. Synthetic hair doesn’t lose its style, which means less work for you! On the other hand, nothing feels quite like human hair itself. Like biological hair, human hair has to be styled regularly.

With your decision in mind, start at WigOutlet.com and choose either the Human Hair or Synthetic Hair category. This is where you get to shop! Scroll through the products and take a look at the images. This is where you pick your preferred style. This is a gut decision, really. Does that pixie cut wig speak to you? Or are long curls more “you”?

Once you’ve found the wig of your dreams, you’ll need to select the wig color. If you are tempted to go for a totally out-of-character shade, I don’t blame you! A word of caution, however: if this is your first wig, you should play it safe. Stick with a color close to what you’re used to. Too dramatic of a change can be a shock. Likewise, try to pick a color with a rooted shade and highlights. Dark roots give the appearance of natural hair. Same with highlights! Biological hair is three-dimensional in color. A solid color can look unnatural.

That’s it! You chose the right size. You decided on the hair fiber type. You picked your favorite style. Finally, you chose a natural color. You’re done – add to cart! The hardest part is waiting for it to arrive at your door (luckily, we've got lightening fast shipping!)

(If the wig you chose doesn’t work out for some reason, don’t worry. We accept returns on most items!)

I purchased Ignite by Jon Renau average 6F27 to help me grow out my bio hair from a pixie. I got it today when I went home at lunch and just about wore it back to work. The fit is great, a shake and finger style was all I needed to do to it. If I had more time to play with it I would have been sporting a new style in the afternoon. Love this wig so far. I may be jumping the gun but so far it’s love at first try. I can’t wait for my Tousled by Gabor to arrive.
